Kicking off in style
The Mitre in Buckingham welcomed 2026 in style with a night of live music, great food, and a buzzing atmosphere. Guests arrived early and were greeted with a complimentary glass of prosecco to ease the pressure at the bar and set the tone for the evening.
By 8pm, the pub was full and ready for the first highlight. A live band put together specially for the night by landlord Peter Edwards and his brother Mark took to the stage. The lineup featured local musicians David Cattermole, James Crow, Kate Edwards, and guest vocalist Sara Daniel.
The setlist was packed with crowd favourites from Stevie Nicks, Oasis, Paul McCartney, Billy Joel, Phil Collins, Empire of the Sun, and of course at least one Elton John track. A standout moment came when Sara joined Peter for a powerful duet of Don’t Let The Sun Go Down on Me, followed by a soulful performance of Rosie by Joan Armatrading.
Great Food in Great Company
After the band finished, guests enjoyed a traditional pig roast served by Crackling Fayre, a firm favourite at The Mitre’s big events.
At 10pm, the pace lifted again as Nick The Fish took over with his unpredictable and energetic set. Jumping from Postman Pat to Britney Spears and AC DC, he kept the crowd laughing, singing, and dancing. DJ Count Hatstand kept the music flowing throughout the night and took centre stage at midnight to welcome in the New Year.
Behind the scenes, The Mitre team worked non stop to keep everything running smoothly. Special thanks go to glass collectors Eve and Zoe, who kept the venue tidy and the drinks flowing all night.
Live music, great food, and a packed house combined to create a memorable New Year’s Eve that perfectly captured the spirit of The Mitre. Here’s to many more celebrations in 2026.
